Mandisi Phumelele Ntshengulana was born in Mount Frere (KwaBhaca) and grew up there as well as in Durban. He is a father of two, Lulo and Nikita. He was educated at Glenwood High School, Durban and obtained his LLB at UKZN (Howard College Campus). He was previously an attorney at Legal Aid South Africa for 10 years, specializing in criminal law. He resigned in 2021 to do pupillage with the General Council of the Bar. He is now an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa based in Mthatha.
