It is 2017 in South Africa. Civil strife and racial conflict have escalated to unprecedented levels, resulting in the President deploying AU troops and international sporting tours being cancelled. Minister Glynn Marais is completely disillusioned. She proposes a rugby tournament between blacks and whites which is supported by the Deputy President to take the conflict onto the sports field. Forging the Rainbow follows the public and private lives of Springboks Andile Musa and Deon Erasmus in their quest to reclaim Mandela's vision of a rainbow nation at peace with itself and the world.
Kiren Thathiah is an erstwhile professor of visual art and design. His academic career spans over twenty-five years and he has taught at all levels from primary school to university. He holds university qualifications in the Fine Arts, Education and Public Management. His artworks are represented in national collections and he had numerous exhibitions nationally and internationally. He has also published research articles in academic journals. His public service includes serving on the boards of the National Arts Council and the National Art Gallery. His present position as research associate allows him to continue with academic research while pursuing other creative opportunities.
